WHAT WE COLLECT
When you become a Dymocks Booklover, we collect the information below. The reason for that collection is identified in the table below.
DO YOU HAVE TO PROVIDE THE INFORMATION?
You are not required to provide the information above. However, in some circumstances, if we do not have the required information, we may be unable to provide you with access to goods or services that require the collection of that information. This is because the information we collect assists us in providing our goods and services.
WHERE IS THE INFORMATION STORED?
All information held by us is stored on secure cloud servers. Where possible we use servers based in Australia. Where this is not possible, we opt for European data centres as a fallback to access the protections of the European General Data Protection Regulation.
HOW LONG IS THE INFORMATION STORED?
We store the information above whilst you are a customer and shopping with us.
We conduct yearly data reviews where we consider deletion of personal information. We will continue to keep your information in our system where:
- You have made a Qualifying Activity on your Booklover account in the last 18 months.
“Qualifying Activity” for the purposes of were referred to in this section means where you have made a purchase; earned or redeemed points; qualified for Gold Booklover Membership or purchased or renewed a Booklover Plus Subscription.
Where you do not satisfy this test, we will delete your personal information from our systems. We will also delete customer personal information on their request.
WHAT IS RETAINED AFTER DELETION?
After we delete personal information the only information, we will have regarding you is any tax invoice or receipt evidencing purchases you make from us. We are required to keep these records for 7 full years after the date of each purchase in accordance with Australian taxation laws.
WHO CAN ACCESS INFORMATION IN DYMOCKS BOOKS & GIFTS?

HOW DO WE SECURE YOUR INFORMATION?
Your information is stored in a database with information encrypted at rest and in transit. Access to the database is securely restricted to an explicit list authorised of Dymocks and Third-party personnel. The information is stored on servers which have firewalls and other security measures to prevent malicious or unauthorised access. We test these systems annually through third party penetration testing to confirm the systems are effective.

You may request access to the personal information that we hold about you. You can do this by emailing privacy@dymocks.com.au.
VALIDATING YOUR IDENTITY
We take your privacy seriously. That means that we will not discuss your personal information without first seeking to validate who we are speaking with. To validate your identity, we may require you to provide us with any of the following:
- Your full name
- Your address
- Email address on your Booklover account or order.
- Phone or mobile number on your Booklover account or order;
- Your Booklover account number.
